Adjacent to the Parish Church of St. George, in the Old Square, lies a private museum collection of military artifacts from the Austro-Hungarian period, meticulously curated and regularly expanded by amateur collector and dedicated Slovenske Konjice resident, Robert Vrečko. On display are sabres, helmets, headgear, medals, postcards, photographs, relics from the Isonzo Front excavations, and numerous other military, patriotic, and religious items. These artifacts offer a glimpse into the era when our forefathers served the emperor in various conflicts until the monarchy’s collapse and the struggles for the northern border. The majority of the exhibits relate to the First World War, many of which are intertwined with the history of our town and its inhabitants. They serve as poignant reminders of a bygone era characterized by the motto: “Everything for faith, home, and emperor”. The premises housing this private collection underwent renovation in September 2016. To visit the collection, advanced appointment scheduling is required.
The Museum of Firefighting in the Dravinja Valley was established in October 2000, with its public debut taking place in April 2001. Serving as a veritable treasure trove of firefighting and cultural heritage, the museum offers valuable insights to its visitors. Beyond its primary objective of preserving firefighting heritage, the museum is also dedicated to fostering collaboration among neighboring firefighting associations in collecting firefighting artifacts and presenting these collections to the public, particularly to younger generations. Occupying an area of 250 m2, the museum is situated on the upper floor of the Slovenske Konjice Fire Station. Viewing the collection requires advance appointment scheduling.

Just a stone’s throw from Slovenske Konjice, nestled in the charming village of Mlače, you’ll discover the Heritage House. This museum is home to a diverse ethnological collection of artifacts that transport us back to the lives of our ancestors. Primarily focused on the daily lives of farmers, winegrowers, and craftsmen, the museum showcases objects crafted from materials that highlight humanity’s deep connection with nature. To visit the collection, advanced appointment scheduling is required.
The “Pustova hiša,” formerly known as the “Ratejeva zidanica,” underwent a joint renovation effort by the Špitalič Tourist Association and the Municipality of Slovenske Konjice. This house boasts an authentic Styrian village design, constructed from stone, clay, and wood, and formerly adorned with straw roofing until it was replaced due to wear and tear in 2013. Within its interior, visitors can explore the National Liberation War and Ethnological Museum, featuring an ethnological collection of antiquities and farm craft tools, as well as a collection from World War II. Viewing is available by prior arrangement.
