Žička Kartuzija, a former Carthusian monastery and today a monument of national importance, is a place where people seek peace and retreat. On Slovenian Cultural Holiday, Prešernov dan, Žička Kartuzija opens its doors to visitors and welcomes them with a diverse program.

You can explore Žička Kartuzija independently with an audio guide or join a guided tour. On this day, 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 and will follow the schedule below:

  • 10:00: Guided tour of Žička Kartuzija with conservator Matija Plevnik
  • 11:00: Guided walk through the winter monastic garden with Majda Temnik from Majnik Herb Garden
  • 12:00: Guided tour of Žička Kartuzija: Discover the life of the Carthusians
  • 13:00: Presentation of the herbal pharmacy at Žička Kartuzija, led by the Iršič family
  • 14:00: Guided tour of Žička Kartuzija: Discover the life of the Carthusians

You can also visit the pottery workshop, herbal pharmacy, sparkling wine cellar, Carthusian gardens, four permanent exhibitions, two lapidariums, and a scale model of Žička Kartuzija, as well as walk along a unique energy-themed trail. At Gastuž, the oldest inn in Slovenia, dating back to 1467, special offers for visitors will be available on this day.
